Rugby Cranes Shut Out Morocco 10-0 to Reach Africa Sevens Final

Uganda’s Rugby Cranes delivered a clinical defensive masterclass on home soil, blanking Morocco 10-0 in the cup semi-final to book their place in the final of the 2026 Africa Men’s Sevens Series (World Rugby SVNS 3 Africa Qualifiers) at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds in Kampala.
The result capped a dominant tournament so far for the hosts. After topping Pool B unbeaten with three wins and a perfect 9 points (scoring 83 points while conceding just 24), the Cranes carried that momentum into the knockout stage.
Their pool campaign included a commanding 38-0 victory over Senegal and a solid 26-10 win against Tunisia on Day 1, followed by a tense but hard-fought 19-14 victory over Zambia on Sunday morning. Daniel Otim’s strong contributions stood out in that key pool decider, helping secure top spot and a favourable path through the knockouts.
A visit from Princess Catherine Ssangalyambogo provided an extra boost of morale ahead of the decisive matches, as the team continued its strong Day 2 showing.

In the semi-final against Morocco, Uganda’s defence proved impenetrable. The Cranes controlled the contest, kept a clean sheet, and advanced with composure under pressure in front of a passionate home crowd.
They will now face Zimbabwe in the cup final later on Sunday, with the chance to claim the continental title on home soil and take a significant step forward in the World Rugby SVNS pathway.
The tournament forms part of Rugby Africa’s 40th-anniversary celebrations, adding extra significance to Uganda’s run. Fans celebrated the perfect group record and the team’s clinical progression, with the home support creating a vibrant atmosphere at Kyadondo throughout the weekend.
The Cranes head into the final with confidence, unbeaten and battle-tested, aiming to finish the job against a strong Zimbabwe side that also topped its pool.
Stay tuned for final updates from Kyadondo Rugby Grounds.
